I need to sew two thick duvets together and I need a large needle. what are these called and where can I buy them in the UK?
Cheers..Large sewing needle, the size of a large nail?
You don't want a needle the size of a large nail -- or any nail -- you'll shred the fabric as you sew. I'm not sure what you're trying to do, but consider trying to clean these duvets when they're permanently attached -- it's likely to be so unwieldy, you'll have to unsew them.
Consider instead joining them with velcro, snaps, zippers, buttons...
Oh, and don't use a leather needle. The point of a leather needle cuts fabric, and you'll have a real mess then.Large sewing needle, the size of a large nail?
You used to be able to buy ';sack needles'; as well as assorted upholstery needles from John Lewis type shops haberdashery department at one time. Dunno if you still can.
they are called darning needles you can buy them at a haberdashery shop
