I cannot understand how can so many datas be stored in that thumb nail sized chip in our Handphone?

If you're interested look up something called ';Flash Memory'; in Wikipedia or someplace. It's the memory used for a lot of portable and wireless stuff including SIM cards. The thing that makes Flash memory work is something called a ';Floating Gate Transistor';. I won't describe how it works, but a Floating Gate Transistor is a variation on the MOSFET technology used in CPU's, which basically takes the form of a tiny sandwich. If you check out MOSFETs in Wikipedia you'll see a picture of one. Well, they can make those sandwiches really small (45 nanometers). To give you a sense of scale a human hair is usually somewhere in the neighborhood of one hundred microns across, which is about two thousand times larger.I cannot understand how can so many datas be stored in that thumb nail sized chip in our Handphone?
