What size nails do furniture makers use for building things like entertainment centers?

My dad uses 6 inch nails LOL %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

Which fastener that is used depends on the forces that joint has. For example a Tv on an entertainment center would fall through if only a finish nail was used, but if the joint was mortised, glued, then finish nailed it would be great. The RTA (ready to assemble) stuff you get from Ikea or Walmart have cam screws on them which is a pretty good joint. However they will even put an upright under a TV for strength.What size nails do furniture makers use for building things like entertainment centers?
It all depends on the quality of the product. I use as few nails as possible. I use them as clamping devices while the glue dries. I rely on joinery and glue. I use as little hardware as possible.

Cheaper pieces will use nails and staples especially in mass produced goods because they can't afford to wait for the glue to dry.
If your going to build one ,cut your pieces and check the fit. Drill holes where you will use screws to fasten. before assembly ,use a carpenters glue for extra strength. Good luck! P.S. Never use nails for such a project!
i didnt know they used nails. i have one and its made of many pieces all glued together. the only screws used are the ones used to mount the door hinges. a friend who is a wood worker built mine, maybe thats why no nails.
finishing nails between 6 and 8d , also a lot use bradnails . they work a lot easier and hold good
finish nails usually 8d
It varies. but you will see more screws and staples in furniture than regular nails
