When you use a hammer to drive a nail into a piece of wood, are you changing size or the direction of the force

i need this by tonight (8:30) please!! for scienceWhen you use a hammer to drive a nail into a piece of wood, are you changing size or the direction of the force
Odd that no one answered this in time. But on the off chance that you might still find it useful,

When you use a hammer, you are accelerating the hammer in an arc, in such a way that you are increasing the speed and changing the direction.

But to do that you are applying a force of a constant 'size'. Just as gravity is a constant force but things fall faster and faster, your constant force causes the hammer to accelerate: to move faster and faster.

And you are applying a radial force, that is, one that is constantly changing direction, just as the hammer is constantly changing direction.
